Shiny
[info]wintressrain was bugging me about Fanime pictures. Waiting for stuff to recompile, I did this to hold her over.

(Shininess is playing around in post, not optical filters. I don't think this is a good picture. But I wanted to try out that Star Trek look, and this had suitable in-frame light sources. Not sure it makes any sense here. But might be cool for something sci-fi-ish, if anyone is interested in that sort of look.)

Neo Angelique shoot up in a week maybe.

While waiting, you should practice Spiderman para-para.

Nah - I didn't use protection. It's just not the same with an extra layer between my (camera) body and the girl :P

(cheap filters = unwanted flare + lost contrast. worthwhile ones cost more than my old-school lenses)

Star Trek, mmm...now I'm tempted to shop in Kirk and Spock. :9

On an related note: There's something up with your photos or my comp? Every time I save and open them, they come up REALLY warped (happened with the BKI ones of me from Sakura Gathering). And apparently, it does that to this photo as well -> Click me. It's not only that it shows up like this in Preview but also in PS. I have nooo idea what the heck's wrong. At first I thought it was cuz I have a Mac...but it's a .jpg file so that's ridiculous. Hallppp.

Weird. I just tried on a Mac, and, yeah, preview does comes up stretched. But it opens right in Photoshop on that Mac. And Safari. And pretty much anything else.

Opening & re-saving it here with GIMP or KolourPaint on this computer doesn't fix it. Tried changing a few less common settings to see if they were causing it - no luck. But opening & re-saving on the Mac in PS does fix it. Curiously, in Finder, the resolution listed is correct, and the preview is correct.

It looks like the width is 3x the height, so if you resize it back, that might work. But I suspect you may loose some sharpness. I guess if there are some particular files you want, I could to the open & re-save in PS, if your PS version is opening them weirdly.

Curiously, using my old script for image resizing, it doesn't do that. But I'm not sure what is all that different about what they do. They even use the same tool to do the resizing, just adding the text differently...

Sorry for the late reply.

Hm, I just opened all of the BKI photos in PS again. It does open stretched with the error "Pixel aspect ratio correction is for preview purposes. Turn it off for maximum image quality." but if I un-check Pixel Aspect Ratio, it goes back to normal. Though if I drag it into another file (say for icon making as an example), it turns out stretched again and won't go back to normal.

weird... Well, in the mean time, I've added an extra step to the script that seems to solve it, so I redid your Bakumatsu photos. Testing on the Mac here, they work fine:

Another friend had the issue in Windows Vista's preview. But it opens fine in PS CS3 for her.

I'm not sure what was doing it, but by saving it as PPM first, then converting to JPEG, instead of PNG to JPEG, I can create files that open OK. So, I've changed the resize script to add that step, and all future images shouldn't have that problem.

If you want me to re-save any particular past ones, let me know.
